June 17, 2016 – Announcing Five Promotions

Liz Faulisi has been promoted to Case Analyst II for Northeast Association Management, Inc. (NEAMI), an association management firm that focuses on providing administrative support to municipal risk pools.

In her new role, Faulisi will be responsible for handling medical and lost time workers’ compensation claims for NEAMI client Public Employer Risk Management Association (PERMA). She will correspond with injured workers, employers, attorneys and the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board.

Faulisi joined NEAMI in 2014 as a case analyst I. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from State University of New York at Geneseo, graduating Cum Laude as a member of the Edgar Fellows Honor Program. She is a Licensed Claims Adjuster with New York State, and is a resident of Albany, NY.

Mary Lang has been promoted to Technical Claims Manager for NEAMI. In her new role, Lang will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of five, reviewing all incoming workers’ compensation claims for NEAMI client PERMA, evaluating performance, overseeing workflow and handling claims administration and personnel-related issues. Lang will also serve as the main point of contact for all PERMA members assigned to her team.

Lang joined NEAMI in 2002 as a claims coordinator. Since then, she has been promoted to case analyst I, II, and III, and claims specialist.

Lang says that becoming a technical claims manager makes her extremely proud. “It shows that my technical skill is of a high caliber and that the management team believes I can be an asset, managing staff to achieve NEAMI’s goals.”

Lang earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from State University of New York at Albany, and she is a Licensed Claims Adjuster with New York State. She is a resident of Ballston Lake, NY.

Sarah O’Brien has been promoted to Risk Management Consultant for NEAMI. In her new role, O’Brien will be responsible for providing risk management services to NEAMI client PERMA, including training required by federal and state labor safety agencies. She will also be assisting the data analytics team.

O’Brien joined NEAMI in March 2014 as a case analyst. In August of that year, she was promoted to case analyst II. Before joining NEAMI, O’Brien served as a public health specialist for the New York Department of Health, where her work focused on the Bureau of Labor Statistics survey of occupational injuries and illnesses. She has also served as an environmental health associate for the Columbia County (NY) Department of Health, where her work focused on summer camp injury prevention and control.

O’Brien earned a master’s degree in Public Health, Social Behavior and Community Health from State University of New York at Albany. She is a resident of Delmar, NY.

Mariam Philipp has been promoted to Claims Specialist for NEAMI. In her new role, Philipp will be responsible for managing, investigating, and documenting workers’ compensation claims for NEAMI client PERMA. She will maintain contact with employers, claimants, attorneys, investigators and medical providers in order to facilitate the best outcomes in a time- and cost-efficient manner.

Philipp joined NEAMI in 2002 as a claims coordinator. Since then, she has been promoted to case analyst I, II, and III. Philipp is an experienced claims adjuster known for prevailing on fraud cases because of her ability to think outside the box.

Philipp earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Marist College, and she is a Licensed Claims Adjuster with New York State. She is a resident of Bleeker, NY.

Ashley Shumway has been promoted to Case Analyst III for NEAMI. In her new role, Shumway will be responsible for investigating losses, negotiating settlements, paying awards, and maintaining contacts with members and brokers regarding workers’ compensation claims managed for NEAMI client PERMA.

Shumway joined NEAMI in 2008 as a claims coordinator. Since then, she has been promoted to case analyst I and II.

Shumway earned a bachelor’s degree in Politics from the State University of New York at Potsdam, and she is a Licensed Claims Adjuster with New York State. She is a resident of Latham, NY.
